Monate is set in a private Game Reserve, home to Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, Hippo, Rhino, Brown Hyena, Crocodile, Giraffe, Caracal and Jackal as well as a large variety of antelope such as Kudu, Eland, Waterbuck and Nyala. Being close to the Nylsvlei Nature Conservancy, a birding paradise, home to 46% of the bird species in Southern Africa, birding is prolific on the reserve with many new sightings reported.
