Dining Room
Monate lodge’s cozy dining room is the perfect venue for cold or rainy weather. The wide open windows combined with the thatched Bushveld setting, oozes over in a homely atmosphere which will surely make you relax and enjoy your meal while watching over our manicured gardens.
Natural Cave
An intimate setting in our natural cave overlooking a waterhole and a magnificent view of the reserve lends itself to a great meal time experience. This truly natural cave can host up to 40 people at a time. The cave was formed around 300 000 years ago when a huge inland lake slowly drained out. The swirling water weathered away the Sandstone which created this wonderful cave. Apart from it being a wonderful venue, the cave was also utilized by Bantu speaking tribes from about 1 800 years ago as another rain control and spiritual site.
The cave’s setting is truly out of a Bushveld fairytale. The path leads over a waterfall and curves around the koppie to open up to a magnificent view of Reserve and the cave’s opening. This is truly an experience you will never forget.
Bush Boma
Our bush boma is located in the middle of the reserve. This setting has got no power, and therefore is entirely lit up by candle and Paraffin lights. This makes for a real serene and peaceful dining experience under the African starry skies. The Bush Boma is situated between two rocky outcrops on either side of the dining area. With the soft light embracing the rocky walls and the boma fire dancing at the African beat, this dining experience will surely make it an unforgettable experience.
Lodge boma
The Lodge Boma is cradled between a Rocky outcrop and our Restaurant. The centralized Boma fire creates a pleasant yet bubbly atmosphere while dining with your friends or colleagues. Many late night Bushveld stories have been shared around this social setting.
We also host breakfasts at this lovely venue. With the sun creeping through the surrounding rocky outcrops, your day will be refreshed with birds singing while you enjoy your tantalizing breakfast.
