A seTswana/SeSotho word Meaning Lekker, which in turns is a universal South African slogan for pleasant or nice. I however would like to throw in a couple of others that explained our short visit to Monates paradise: Sublime, Superb, inspirational, just to name a few. Thanks to the Monate team you guys ROCK!!!

Ek kan net nie glo dat dit 2 weke sedert die troue is en dat Kersfees ook reeds verby is nie! Ek vertrou dat jy en jou geliefdes, asook almal by die lodge ‘n baie geseënde Kersfees ervaar het en dat 2009 vol liefde, vrede en vreugde sal wees.
Ek wil net vir julle almal weereens bedank dat julle die troue so ‘n spesiale belewenis vir elkeen wat bygewoon het gemaak het. Dit het al ons verwagtinge oortref. Die blyplek is onverbeterlik, julle diens en vriendelikheid ongeewenaar en die kos was absoluut uit die boonste “gestoeltes” (soos oom Oubaas van 7de laan sou sê). Dit was die lekkerste troue wat ek nog ooit bygewoon het (al was dit nou ons dogter syn!). Sindy, sonder jou hulp sou die blomme nooit klaargekom het nie en die troukoek sou nie betyds “gepatch” geword het nie.. Wat my die heel meeste beindruk het was julle vermoë om “raak te vat”. Mens het nie nodig om iets n ate gaan nie. Als gebeur net seepglad. Ek sal enigiemand aanbeveel om julle lodge te besoek en vir ‘n troue of onthaal – nog beter!!!!!!!!!! Ons sal beslis spaar om weer by julle ‘n draai te kom maak. Sodra meer fotos beskikbaar is sal ek vir jou epos.

Enclosed you will find the best photo I took of the Brown Hyena! Hope you recognize her? She will be a shock for my mother-in-law to talk about for a long time. I think it is the most fascinating thing she has ever experienced.
We had a great time at your lodge, and we will tell everybody about the lodge and it's atmosphere and the friendly people, the service, the animals everything. We are so grateful, and my mother-in-law just loved it, even though she was a little scared before going.
And the best of luck to Lauren, who is the best ranger and guide we have ever had on any drives in South-Africa. She is so knowledgable!!!

This is just a short note to say thank you for making our new year’s weekend an awesome experience. I know that you went out of your way to convince Preston to let us use the facility and we really appreciate it.
As usual the common comments amongst our family and friends were that everything was perfect, in fact most people have a problem highlighting one individual who stood out. Every person at Monate went out of their way to ensure that our group had a great time. Well done! In today’s climate where service seems to have been forgotten your team certainly has got it right!

I just HAD to send you a note to say a Huge Thank You to all of you for the amazing four days we spent with you over New Year.
The service and hospitality we received, from every single staff member, was truly outstanding. Each and every one certainly goes far more than that extra mile. !!!
One of the families that was part of our group was relocating back to the UK on Jan 3rd and could not have wished for a better way to end off their 18 month stay in South Africa. As for the rest of the party, well every single one of us will be back again and again that is for sure.
My own family has visited Monate on a few occasions and we all agreed that this was the best visit ever. We have always loved it but everything from the food and the game drives seemed even better than before. It is impossible to pick out any specific individual but I must just say that Lauren’s brief talk on the stars was very special. My children have repeated the story about Orion and his dog to anyone who is prepared to listen !!!!
Thanks again for a very special time and look forward to seeing you all again on our next visit.

My friend and I had the most wonderful time, your staff were just exceptional, everyone was so warm and inviting, and every single staff member made us feel right at home. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the beds were THE most comfortable! Your food was sooo delicious. The game drive was a once in a lifetime experience. If I had to rate your lodge I would give it a 12 out of 10, that's how amazing it was. A huge thank you to all the staff, Daniel, Ranny, Willard, Wilhemina, Cindy, Lauren, (Halo and Coco) and especially Chantal who really went out of her way to make everything as perfect as possible. Hi Monate people,
We would just like to drop you a mail to thank you all very much for making our stay with you over last weekend so special and laid back. We really enjoyed the delicious food, the friendly service and attention to detail. Since this weekend was a reward for lots of hard work, it was particularly important to us to enjoy the experience as much as possible. What really made our stay special was to start our day early on Saturday with a relaxed drive to the dam where we could watch the sun rise and the animals and birds awakening, and then come back to a delicious breakfast. After that we expected to spend a relaxed day in our room and at the pool, but we were pleasantly surprised when we were offered the opportunity to spend the day peacefully basking in the sun at the Hampton lodge while the Absa team building went on in full swing only a few meters away.
Thank you for being thoughtful enough to provide this alternative, we appreciated it because we love the quiet of the bush and we still got to relax in luxury. As it was my birthday, I really felt spoilt too. We also had a great game drive at sunset although we were not lucky enough to see the cheetahs. Our horseback safari with Werner on Sunday morning also was fun, especially when those 2 warthogs suddenly woke up and bolted out of their den and sent our horses into a spin! We enjoyed our stay so much we wanted to stay an extra night. When this was not possible, Chris sorted out alternative accommodation for us. Of course other accommodation would always be difficult to compare to Monate, but we appreciated the help to arrange everything and we definitely recommend to rather drive back to Josie on a Monday morning as the traffic is almost nothing. Also thanks to Chris for the complimentary bottle of wine for my birthday, that was very kind of you.
Thanks also to Chantelle for providing the extra 20l of fuel, we would have been stuck without it. And then to all the other staff who were attentive and helpful at every moment - particularly Ranny and Joe who served our meals - thank you for your kindness and hospitality. After all the pampering and relaxing, we returned home feeling recharged and ready for work. Thank you for your team work, making our stay so enjoyable and for always being there to provide us with whatever we asked, nothing was ever a hassle or too much trouble. We loved it and we hope to be back some time in the future.

To all the staff at Monate
Thank you so much for making our weekend our special. Being one of that last few chances that we have to get away and have a break before the baby comes, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect getaway. From the Office staff who were so welcoming and friendly, to the waiters and chefs who managed to keep even a pregnant mother-to-be full and satisfied! The food was fantastic and the services is definitely 5 star! The management really have found gems in Willard, Joe and Kaulua.
And a huge thanks to Wimpie. It isn't every couple that gets their own Guide for the weekend! We were so lucky and to get someone who has such a passion for the bush and has such a large general knowledge on wildlife, we didn't even mind not seeing animals. But I did get to see everything by the end of the weekend, including a close up with the cheetahs and the bushman paintings!
Being in the industry you understand what goes into a weekend like that, but we also both realise that everyone went beyond that is expected of a 4 star lodge, and Richard and I really appreciate that. We really were sad to leave on Sunday.
For anyone that is ever passing through Pretoria, please don't hesitate to pop in and say Hi and have a cup of coffee.

Cathrina, I do not have words to describe our stay at Monate. From every gentleman that carried our luggage to people that waited on us to people in the bar, to people in admin to people on the game drive, just everybody was so amazing. Sorry for the late response to your mail, I just can’t stop enthusing about this place to everyone. A couple of people seem very interested. If you come across enquiries from Spar, you know I referred them (including the MD’s secretary).
